My name is Karen Rees, I am an Independent Reviewer and consultant in safeguarding  (Adults and Children) offering various models for SCRs and SARs, DHRs, training and audit relating to safeguarding adults and children. I am also an accredited SILP Lead Reviewer.

My consultancy started in 2015 and since that time I have undertaken many reviews across the child and adult safeguarding field with many of those published. 

​

I was previously a paediatric nurse, School Nurse and Health Visitor/Community Practice Teacher and latterly in safeguarding lead roles, having worked in the NHS for 36 years.

 

 

My roles took me through many phases but mostly related to paediatrics and from 2005 I worked solely in child protection as a named nurse and then moved to work across both adult and child safeguarding areas in a mental health NHS Trust. My final role was as Safeguarding Service Manager for a large Community and Mental Health Trust again across both child and adult safeguarding.

 

During my time in safeguarding roles  I worked across the multi agency arena with both Adult and Children’s Safeguarding Boards and represented the NHS Trusts I worked on on Adult and Children’s Case Reviews and Serious Case Reviews. 

 

All of my roles have included teaching and facilitating learning and I have developed and delivered many training packages related to various safeguarding topics.
