Experience in the field of safeguarding including experience at a managerial level
-
I have undertaken many reviews across a variety of safeguarding topic areas, each requiring in depth research which also furthers knowledge.
-
In my last role in the NHS I managed a team of named nurses for safeguarding children and a named nurse for safeguarding adults. I had been in a specific safeguarding role within the NHS for 9 years and prior to that was a health visitor, assessing needs of families. Being a Community Practice Teacher for Health visiting I was required to develop the skills of student health visitors particularly in their safeguarding practice.

Partnership working in the statutory and voluntary sectors
-
undertaking my reviews, I work in partnership with Boards/Partnerships and those organisations that take part in reviews.
-
My work in safeguarding has brought many opportunities for partnership working across all sectors. I was a member of safeguarding boards and sub groups for 9 years and have an understanding of the cultural differences in various sectors. I have evidence of many multi agency projects, not least my chairing of a Local Safeguarding Adult Board Policy Sub Group which resulted in the signing off of several multi agency policies and guidance. I also worked closely with Police and Children's Social Care and other statutory agencies on the implementation of a Child and Adult MASH.

Proven track record of a robust and effective approach to performance management which has resulted in the delivery of improved outcomes
-
Being the lead for Safeguarding across health organisations resulted in me reviewing cases either as serious cases or near misses as well as being involved in the management of allegations against staff. This has often resulted in the detection of gaps in practice, guidance and policy. By working with staff and managers it has been possible to improve practice and therefore outcomes. Specifically I have been responsible for delivering improvements through action plans for serious case reviews which has involved a new and innovative way of delivering safeguarding supervision to large numbers of staff. I have facilitated learning and improvement events related to learning from reviews and instigated ‘Embedding Learning’ workshops across the Trust I worked in.

Report writing experience demonstrating an understanding of language and style for the audience and robust analysis
-
I have written many reviews now that are clearly set out, learning and recommendations that are achievable and relevant are crucial but also those that actually improve practice.
-
Within my SCR experience, both in adult and child safeguarding I have been responsible for analysing information from my own agency and also in the SCR panel work that I have undertaken I have been able to analyse information from a range of agencies and supported the formulation of themes and learning.
-
I have written reports for various bodies and audiences necessitating an awareness of the use of language that is understood across all agencies and have been co responsible for pulling together a communication strategy that recognises the need for checking out communication differences as a result of SCR learning
